At the beginning of September, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will announce the prevention of an emergency in the heating industry

From September 5, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will announce a so-called emergency ban in the heating industry. This was announced by Prime Minister Peter Fiala (ODS) at the press conference held after today’s cabinet meeting. Heating plants will be allowed to heat using fuels other than natural gas, without facing penalties or lengthy licensing processes.

“Heating plants can now start storing coal, light heating oils and other fuels, and you’ll be sure to use them in the winter,” Fiala said. According to him, these fuels do not meet current emissions standards, but getting enough gas and electricity is now a priority.

Minister Síkela said in the event of an emergency, the state will reduce heat in homes for the benefit of key industry.

“This measure is also of great importance for our gas savings, which we will not save in Europe due to Russian policy,” the prime minister added.

Industry and Trade Minister Josef Sekila (to STAN) said that the decree that requires buildings to be heated to low temperatures does not come into effect with the declaration of a prevention of emergency in the heating industry. As for the aforementioned decree, the Ministry of Industry deals with observations arising from interdepartmental actions.

According to the original proposal, the decree on heating rules will come into force precisely in the event that a state of emergency prevention or a state of emergency has been declared in the heating industry. For example, according to her, people should heat living rooms to 18 degrees Celsius instead of the current 20 degrees, and bathrooms should be heated to 19 degrees instead of 24 degrees Celsius.
