The representative of the Public Defender of Rights, Monica Semenkova, will end her tenure on Wednesday. He does not agree with the views and professional and humane approach of the public defender of rights Stanislav Kojic, he no longer wants to represent him and cooperate with him. She said in the interview that she might have had to defend herself more. On Wednesday morning, she will hand over her belongings, as well as the apartment she used in Brno. In the afternoon, he will hand over his resignation to the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marketa Bikarova Adamova (Top 09).
“I am planning some rest, I will take some time, and I will think about what to do next. I have already received some job offers, so far I am thinking about what and how. I take them as suggestions for the direction in which to move forward,” Semenkova said. She stated that she had not received any offer from Prime Minister Peter Fiala (ODS), nor had she been in contact with him yet.

After announcing her resignation, Fiala said he regretted Semenkova’s resignation and wanted the state to continue to exploit her experience. “I think he meant instead to use my experience within government advisory bodies, these are unpaid jobs,” Semenkova says.
Ombudsman Stanislav Kojic withdrew the entire agenda from his representative as of 1 July. He stated that her work is accompanied by human and administrative complexities. Semenkova announced her resignation in mid-August. She has already said that she will consider filing a lawsuit against Křeek over person-harmful statements and his alleged behavior towards her.
“Now, when everything is over, I calmly analyze everything, I am already consulting with lawyers. I will give myself time for this, I want to think about everything in peace, ”said Semenkova in the interview. You have specified the entire 2.5 years that you have held this position.
My conscience is clear
“Maybe I should have defended myself more, because there was a lot of information and actions on the part of Mr. Ombudsman, which were in fact unfair, false and intended to harm my person, even in front of the members of the Petition Committee. But I will not take it back now. I have a clear conscience. With what I did at work and what I was able to achieve, I did everything to the best of my knowledge and feel satisfied with the 2.5 years I have worked in. According to her, someone should ask how the Křeček Ombudsman works, how much time he spends in the office, how much time he devote to individual files and topics, and how he can argue professionally.
According to Chemenkova, for example, it was possible to strengthen the protection of children’s rights, and it was possible to establish further communication with them so that they know how the Ombudsman Institute can help them. It also dealt with the subject of persons restricted in their liberty, ie the issue of institutions in which persons are imprisoned and in which their rights may be violated.
She also noted her activities related to the rights of persons with disabilities and possibly also the accessibility of television programs for persons with disabilities. For example, it was possible to archive Czech television events with subtitles.
She decided to resign after her last interview with the Ombudsman. According to her, this came after a meeting of the petitions committee that dealt with the situation in the office of the Public Defender of Rights in mid-July. He did not take sides in the conflict.

“I went to discuss further cooperation with him, the conversation was not pleasant at all. I left him with a very unpleasant feeling that no agenda would be returned to me, and that I should not go to any meetings. I was not treated as a representative of the Public Defender of Rights. The only thing What I was offered was that I would be assigned individually on an ad hoc basis. Like my colleagues. At that moment, this was the limit for me, and I could no longer go beyond it, ”said Semenkova.
Then she took a leave of absence and concluded that she could not and did not want to continue to do so. “No one has sat in my place for 2.5 years. This is the culmination of all this difficult time. For me, cooperation is no longer possible, trust is broken. Mr. Kojic is lying and I do not want to continue working with such a person. I am very sorry, I will miss the job and my colleagues very much. Semenkova said.
Semenkova was elected to the post of Deputy Public Defender of Rights by the Chamber of Deputies in November 2019, when Anna Shapatova was the Ombudsperson. Chemenkova replaced Kicek in this position. Cicek took over the position of Ombudsman in February 2020. The Public Defender of Rights and his representative had had controversies before. They relate, for example, to the presence of parents at birth or the stay of parents with children in hospitals.
