Markéta Davidová won the silver medal in the sprint at the World Biathlon Championships on roller skates at Ruhpolding, just like last year. Michel Karume of Novi Mesto na Morava finished just a short distance from the podium, finishing fourth with a 1.5sec lead.
Davidova, the fourth woman of Friday’s super-footprint, wasn’t enough for Lisa Fitozzi today at the center of traditional German biathlon. Although the 25-year-old Czech actor shot cleanly, unlike the Italian woman who made one mistake, she was 2.4 seconds slower. Jesica Jeslova came second best Czech in 19th place.
Last year’s world champion was forced to take a penalty round from the Vesochina Arena Kromach after a mistake while he was lying down and finished fourth, a second and a half ahead of Swiss bronze winner Nicklas Hartwig. The Czech representative lost 28.7 seconds to the Swedish winner Sebastian Samuelsson. Fitoslav Hornig was seventeen.
The junior race ended with a double Czech success, which was won by Jonas Marisek ahead of Tomasz Mikjska.
Last year, Krčmář and Davidová dominated the chase races at the end of WC, which this year will be replaced by mass start races. Only the little ones will be racing on Sunday.
