Tennis players Barbora Krijkova and Kachina Sinyakova smoothly advanced to the doubles quarter-finals at the US Open, and the Japanese-Taiwanese duo of Šúko Aojamaová and Chchan Chao-ching edged out 6:2, 6:0.
The three seeded women continue to boost their hopes of winning their third Grand Slam title this year. The victory from the concrete courts at Flushing Meadows is the last victory lost from the “Big Four” tournaments.
The 26-year-old Czech has not dropped serve even once in the 15th championship duel.
In the opening set, they won two breaks, in the second set they did not even allow their opponents a game and gave them canaries. They won the match in 62 minutes.
In the quarter-finals, Krijikova and Sinyakova will face the American-Japanese couple Asya Muhammedova and Inna Sibaharova, or the Polish-Mexican couple Gabriela Dabrowska and Juliana Olmosova.
World number 7 Casper Rudd beat Corentin Moutet 6:1, 6:2, 6:7, 6:2 at the US Open to become the first Norwegian player in history to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final at Flushing Meadows. At this year’s Roland Garros, the 23-year-old will face Matteo Berrettini’s 13th in it. The Italian tennis player beat Spain’s Alejandro Davidovic 3:6 7:6, 6:3, 4:6, 6:2 after three hours and 46 minutes.
Fifth-seeded Roode only served once in the match and scored 43 winning points. The furthest he’s run so far at a Grand Slam in New York was round three two years ago. France’s Moutier was the first player in US Open history to reach the round of 16 from a lucky loser position.
Rome-born Berrettini has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam tournaments for the fifth time in a row. The 2019 US Open semi-finalist also collected 18 aces in a five-set battle against Davidovich.
