Krejíková and Siniaková have qualified for the round of 16 doubles at the current US Open

Tennis players Barbora Krizhikova and Kachina Sinyakova reached the round of 16 in doubles at the US Open Grand Prix. The third-seeded pair defeated Romanian-American couples Anna Bogdanova and Sabrina Santamaria twice 6:2. In the next stage, they will face Japanese-Taiwanese duo Šúko Aojamová and Chan Chao-ching.

The 26-year-old Czech woman started less than twenty-four hours after completing the opening round against Romanian Monica Niculescu and Gabriela Ross. They may not appear tired. They won their opening five matches and took the entire first set in twenty-seven minutes.

“It was definitely a better match from our side,” Siniakova told Czech reporters after the match.

Hradec Kralovey’s forte had health problems in her hip in the previous fencing and had to be treated in court several times. But this time she played the fencing without complications.

“I was a little tired, but one slip helped me. It kicked me out and I felt it. However, my physiotherapist helped me. I didn’t think about scratching. It wasn’t that bad,” Sinyakova said.

Also in the second set, the Olympic champions from Tokyo were serving at 100% and thanks to two more breaks, they finished the duel in less than an hour to take the lead. After winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon, he cherishes the chance of a third Grand Slam victory this season. The US Open title is the last one that the Czech couple lacked in their full range of major slams.

Lucie Hradecká successfully started the tournament in mixed doubles. The 37-year-old Prague native, along with Paul Lucas Kubota, defeated eight-seeded Mattois Middelkoop and Demi Schurz of the Netherlands twice 6:4.
