Tracer Michaela Hubashova, the bronze medalist at the Vancouver Games, has passed away

Longtime tracker of Paralympic skater Anna Peshkova, Michaela Hubashova has died at the age of 46 after a long and serious illness.

Hubashova and Peshkova, who are visually impaired, have competed in downhill races together since 2009, and just one year later they won a bronze medal together in the Super G at the Vancouver Paralympics. The medal is the last precious metal that Czech athletes won at the Games.

Another great success came in 2011, when together they won the gold medal at the World Championships. Pešková (née Kulíšková) then took a break from skiing due to motherhood, so she missed the Paralympic Games in Sochi, but Hubacová participated in at least as a coach. At the 2018 PyeongChang Games held in Korea, they placed 11th together in Super G.
