Zadina signs a new three-year contract with Detroit | Currently

22-year-old hockey player Filip Zadina has signed a new contract with the NHL. After his junior contract expired, he extended his tenure at Detroit for another three years.

Zadina has been with the Red Wings since 2018, when the Detroit club selected him as their sixth overall pick. In the next three seasons, he played 160 games for Detroit, scoring 25 goals and assisting in another 36.

After the end of this year, with Detroit not making the playoffs again, Zadin’s rookie contract expired and there was speculation about a possible replacement for him.

However, Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman offered Zadin a new three-year contract with an average annual salary of $1.825 million (about 45 million kroner), and the Pardubice native decided to sign him.

Dominic Simon remains the last Czech player to play in the National Hockey League last season and is still waiting for a new contract.
